Default NGD: Martin DRS2

After experimenting with a Martin 000-15M and realizing after a while that an all-mahogany guitar is a bit too dark for me, I bought the DRS2.

I was originally going to use the money from selling the 000-15M to buy a Taylor 114. However, adding the money for a hard case on top of the $650 for the Taylor itself put me in the price range of the DRS2 which has solid top, back and sides, and comes with a hard case; so I opted for the DRS2 instead.

The guitar was setup great out of the box and is flawlessly built. It's also got an all-satin finish which I prefer over gloss. It's a bit on the heavy side, but plays and sounds great.

I actually got this a couple weeks ago and waited to post this until I spent enough time with it to know that I'd keep it.

Here's a recording I made with the DRS2 of a new original song the day I bought it:

And here's a pic:

Default Congratulations

I really like the DRS1 and DRS2. At first I thought I wanted the former but now prefer the Spruce top. However I've bought neither. Enjoy. Thanks for sharing.

I haven't had the chance to play on a DRS-2 yet, but I was pretty impressed with the DRS-1s I did try. Congratulations!

Very nice. I assume that's the acoustic sound of the DRS2. It's not plugged in, right? FWIW, I have played and liked the DRS1, have not had a chance to try a DRS2 yet but it sounds wonderful.

Thanks.

It's not plugged in. I used a condenser mic to record it.

Thanks. Same boat I was in. At first I thought I liked the mahogany top, after a while I found I indeed did prefer spruce.

Wow. I did not see the link below the pix. It sounds lovely. Song's beautiful, too ... that "I feel / minefield" rhyme is great.

I am a little embarrassed to say this, because I am a "Martin guy" but I actually haven't played a road series acoustic yet. I think it looks nice. I like the black pickguard and binding. It seems to be out of favor with Martin on most offerings.
