Default Fake Guitar Strings on Amazon?

What are the chances of getting fake Chinese copy guitar strings on Amazon. Specifically if they are shipped direct from Amazon and not a 2nd or 3rd party?

I could go to a local store, but they don't always have what I want in stock or they just don't carry the brand I want.

Has anyone here been ripped off as far as you know?

Thanks,
Dan

Well I’m not necessarily speaking specifically about strings, but generally if any product is marked as being shipped and sold directly from Amazon I doubt you have too much to worry about...

Is there some reason that you would to order through Amazon as opposed to ordering from someone like Strings and Beyond or Strings by Mail?

Well, there's free and sometimes faster shipping (if you're a Prime user). But OTOH, some strings are notably more expensive on Amazon for some reason. I sometimes buy a couple of sets from Amazon if I waited too long to place a bigger order just to get it quickly. But generally, I wait and place a big enough order with strings and beyond to get free shipping. We stay right across the Cape Fear River from them each winter nowadays, and I actually stopped into the Strings and Beyond World Headquarters on a side street in Southport, NC a couple of weeks ago and just bought stuff in person...

There's a lot of fake stuff on Amazon. It's not as bad as ebay but it's closing ground pretty quickly.

I have had one set of strings that was "odd" so I don't get things like strings from Amazon any more. I like Strings By Mail, takes a little longer, but it supports a small business that gives great service....

The reason I like Amazon is that I get free shipping and I am in Canada so ordering from the States is a little bit of a hassle. The shipping times are longer, and I don't want a simple order to be held up at the border. I wouldn't mind ordering but I have to keep checking who ships to Canada and who doesn't.
The reason I asked is that I saw some videos on Youtube about how to identify fake strings. I thought I would be OK if they get shipped directly from Amazon and not a third party.

I've been buying strings almost exclusively from Amazon over the past 5 years. Probably purchased 100 sets from mostly D'Addario and Martin. Never had a bad set.

I get mine off eBay, but only from Sweetwater. I’m 70 miles away so
I usually get them in a day or two.

Thanks guys, that's good to know. As long as Amazon is the seller, I should be OK!

I've been buying genuine strings on a fake Amazon.

Unfortunately there are strings that are in packages that are copies fakes that can fool even the local guitar shops. I saw this happen.
The packaging was a beautiful fake. It took someone with expertise to point out the very subtle difference I would have never seen. I'm not a new kid on the block either. This old 🐕 been learning to play the guitar since 1976.
