Over bored end pin
Just got a nice CE0-7 in a trade. The PO had a pickup installed, but removed it. The end pin hole is 5/8 bored vs 1/2. Been looking for an end pin that will fit (google-ing Luthier Supplies). No find yet.
Bob Colosi makes one, but he says the hole I've got is to big. Not sure I'm going to put a pickup in it yet and the big hole bugs me. Already thought of a "blank" pickup jack and a ffelt washer. Would like to avoid drilling more holes or pounding something in that will damage the wood if I pull it to put a pickup in. Any ideas?

end pin hole
Get some heat shrink that will fit Colosi's pin. Cut to fit and heat it up so that it grips the pin. Should go i and stay. I bought a guitar that had a pickup and had been drilled to large for the strap jack and the heat string worked great over the threads of the strap jack.

The Taylor endpin will most likely work. I just installed one on my Martin D Jr. Was a slight pain to install, but it was just a 6-10 min job if you count removing the strings.

Just order an Ernie Ball 1/4" Stereo Acoustic Endpin Jack and don't connect it. Or you can have anyone making end pins lathe one for you the proper size. Or the NoJak end pin- lots of choices. No pounding required.

You can also have the end pin hold plugged and then re-drilled if wanted.

Ask Bob if he can make one for you that's the right size?

Taylor's endpin is a copy of Larrivee's, so you can get one from Matt and Jean as well.

I know it wasn't directed at me, but I'm kinda new around here and wondering if I should know who Matt and Jean are?

$11 for the endpin: https://www.larrivee.com/shop/end-pin-chrome If someone says the name Bob (without context) they normally mean either Bob Taylor or Bob Colosi. Jean, they mean Jean Larrivee. Frank, they almost always mean Frank Ford.

A wrap or two of electrical tape just might do the trick for the stock pin to fit the larger hole snugly.

1) Plug the hole with a piece of 5/8" hardwood dowel, from Home Depot or elsewhere, and glue it in place with white carpenter's glue. 2) Find a suitable screw-on end pin, with the widest collar that you can find. 3) Insert a 5/8" felt washer on the screw shank, under the collar, drill a pilot hole and screw the end pin into the hole. The felt washer will cover the outline of the plugged hole. If you decide to put a pickup in later you can drill the plug to whatever size is needed. |

Took a look at the NoJack. Won't expand enough to fill the extra 1/8 inch. Thought...hmmm shrink wrap...then realized shrink wrapping it prevents the expansion.
