Same for me, Earl.

Sometimes I think I should, but I don't use Facebook, either. This obviously limits my exposure to the world of mass communications--and I like it that way.

I'm not Barb, but I do have thoughts on that. Actually, I only have one thought on that. If the sound port can be plugged, I would go with the sound port for future flexibility.

Hi Strumalot,
I do not always like having a sound port that is on the top side of the guitar but there are times that I love it. My ears are very sensitive to loud noise so there are times when I put a plug in the sound port of my lucky 13 to avoid the sound coming up directly at my ears. That being said a sound port is definitely a plus when at a jam.

If you happen to be in the NY/NJ area and want to play a Savoy with a sound port let me know.
Barb

Congratulations, Barb! I hope you'll really enjoy that guitar. I haven't played a Savoy, so I look forward to hearing more about it and maybe running into one somewhere. Love to see pics or videos if you want to post them.

Ok, the pickguard is growing on me.

Not that I can afford one right now, but I wonder if they would do a custom without fretboard dots.

Congrats, Barb!

Sounds like Joe has outdone himself with the Savoy… and that's not easy to do. I guess I'm going to have to get myself into SF one of these days to check one out.

I hear you. I think the number-one appearance upgrade to ANY guitar is a fretboard that hasn't been desecrated with fret markers.

Uncle, when I played an eKoa El Capitan, it was hard not to buy the demo model on the spot. It compares very favorably to most of my Taylor GA's and to my Rainsong WS-1000 too. It appears very woody, and sounds more like wood too. I'm convinced it is the composite material of the future.

Based on the Blackbird web site, they will do custom inlays (it says, "call for quote") so deleting fret board markers is probably very easy to do. I found Joe very easy to work with. To me, the #1 desecration of a guitar is the default application of a pick guard. Don't need, don't want it, and cannot wait to remove them when they come pre-installed.

Tom and Barb, thanks for the advice ~ and Barb ~ the generous try out offer! These days, however, I only leave the property to get more beer.

I decided to stick with the no sound port and K&K option. Makes the instrument a little more durable and sealed up (a guitar with a port is a perfect nesting site and the birds around here are quick to take up residence!).

Like Kramster, I am getting the pickguard unattached.
