That has been one of my favorite videos for a long time. I love how he plays and puts across that song.

Thanks for the reminder!

Yup, me too. Log time devotee of Guy Clark and Verlon was with him for many years.

As a Brit fascinated by American accents, I love to hear Verlon talk almost as much as I love to see/hear him sing/play.

Yes, Verlon's accent seems just right for this song, kind of "down home" and very relaxed. This is one of those videos that seems to be almost perfect, so well done.

I posted that very video with Verlon a week ago in the Listen section under a thread titled "Spoken song recommendations" that was started by Daniel Grenier.

Seemed to go unnoticed.

An oldie but a goodie. Verlon Thompson is a solid guitar player and a fine songwriter. That Guild sounds great in his hands.

Best,
Jayne

I've enjoyed watching that video many times, and often wondered why Verlon chose to play that Guild rather than his "old reliable" Bourgeois for this song. I've seen him perform live upwards of fifty times or more, and I've never seen that Guild in his hands.
