Try again-Pix of new Prisloe Classical
Here are the pix of my new Thomas Prisloe classical. I am particularly impressed with the tone of this still, very young guitar. It exhibits amazing qualities already. I have the luxury of being able to play many hours a day and have been thrilled. This guitar is built with absolutely the finest materials. Very even register, up and down the neck, excellent balance string-to-string and wonderful sonics. 60 cm scale length and 50mm nut width. Tremendous workmanship. I love the rosette, it is very intricate and just spectacular, but still understated. I did some research concerning tuners. I have always loved Waverly products on my steel strings. When I saw they were now building classical style tuners, I was sold. They offer two models, one with flowery more ornate carving and two-toned gold. I chose the more simple masculine style because I am a real manly man. (AR AR) The headstock of my guitar has quite a bit of mass and the neck is extremely stable. The fretboard is flawless and polished to a sheen. My own personal touches were the red stripe in the top binding, a carbon fiber rod in the neck, a bit higher saddle, a four barrel carb, four-on-the-floor and extra wide tires. I tried to get Tom to inlay a half-naked hula dancer on the back, but he just wouldn't do it. AR AR. I would not hesitate to recommend a build by Tom Prisloe to any advanced level of classical player. You can check his web site for more details. He is very nice person to work with. The build took 6-7 months and was definately worth the wait. I ordered the Calton directly from the factory in Canada and they shipped it to Tom in Trumansburg NY, where his shop is. Gee whiz, I couldn,t ask for more. I'm happy camper. (I wouldn't even consider taking this guitar camping!)
One more short note: I bought a Pavan Classical from Tom to start off with. These are Spanish built to Tom's specs and shipped directly to NY. It was a TP30-64 with a shorter scale and a more narrow nut width. I believe that Tom chooses and sends the Englemann top-wood to the builders there. It was an excellent guitar. The neck was perfect for my old geezer fingers. It really whet my appetite for a concert level guitar, so, I ordered the custom build with the same specs. Tom gave me what I paid for the Pavan towards the final price of the Prisloe. There is one thing I feel badly about...you don't have one!
