I’m going to head over to Music Zoo and look for one. I’ve been gas free since I got the J-17, but next year I turn 70 so I have to start taking 401k dispersments. I’m also don’t need my Dread Jr anymore, so I might as get something new, right?!

I'm with you on the pickguard... gotta go! No reason to cover up that mahogany.

Makes perfect sense to me.

I've had a few 15 series Martins but they never lasted. I also played the Builders Edition 517 & 717 and although didn't take either home they were much closer to what I like tonally in a guitar. The 327 does make sense Roy. I'd like to hear a sound clip and will search YT. And I'm with you...lose the pick guard. Congrats on your #3!

Congrats! I played a 327, and a 317 (both for the second time), and a 517 just this past Friday. The 317 was pretty good, but the 327 and 517? Wow! Now if I could only dig up a little more money for a 327 or a 517 .

Congrats. It will indeed look even better with a clear pick guard.

Sounds like fodder for a new thread: “What carpet color will produce the best tone in my new guitar?”

Could be an AGF Classic.

Oh, and thanks for the kind words about the guitar too.

Solely concentrated on the new Taylor the past couple days...but the whole gang is out to play this morning. Cool band of acoustic brothers. Tones = classic Martin, classic Gibson, classic Taylor (rounded and warmed by the GP body and hog top). Lotta fun going back and forth between ‘em...

Roy, that is HOT, and a darn good looking top. Did you sell anything to get it, or did you just buy it outright (question answered after looking at the pics again.)? I still haven't garnered much interest for the 327 simply because I am not a mahogany top guy and find them to be too dark most of the time, but these are SOOOOO good looking. Plus, my 517 and 717 have squelched most of my guitar gas of late.

I'll be interested to see how you feel about it in the coming weeks. I've really started enjoying my GPs more and more.

Thanks, man! I haven’t been a mahogany guy either. Not even close. To my ears, many of them sounded mute, dark...even boxy. But as I said in my OP between the Blackwood b/s, GP body and Taylor’s natural brightness (I’ve even kept Elixirs on it) this particular combo really sings. Warm, round, fundamental but with good volume and punch.

My wife came in while I was practicing this morning. Gave her a quick demo. Grabbed the 41 and launched into some strumming and picking. Then grabbed the GP and played the exact same thing. What a difference! But, as she put it, “They both sound great!” High praise from a lady who rarely comments on my guitars...
