Exclamation A second chance for the Aluminum Bronze

In the past, I've bashed the AB strings due to my poor experience with them the first time (breakage gallore); but I decided to take a risk and put a new set on my Ovation Legend. So far, I love the easy tension. Let's see how long will they last this time.

Interestingly, the only strings I've consistently broken were elixir g strings lol. I love the AB on my Dx1 Martin.

I'm an Elixir NON-fan, and that's one of the reasons.

Officially, I'm 100% DONE with Aluminum Bronze.

They didn't even last one gig without a breakage.

I've gone through 5 sets of these on various guitars... even had one set I took off and put back on. These were all the 12-54 gauge, not a single broken string. That said, string breakage if pretty rare for me, but I do tend to break at least one or two strings every year.

Curious if you could shed light on

1) Where is the breakage occurring (nut/saddle, middle string)? Any strings in particular?

2) What gauge are you using?

3) Do you change tunings much?

4) Are there any other brands of strings you break?

I've NEVER broke a string in 15 years of playing and I'm a bluegrass rhythm player and can play pretty hard from time to time. I've never had an issue with breaking AB strings and I've played them at outdoor festivals with the temps in the high 90's and the humidity unbearable too. I've killed a set in one day(10-12 hours of jamming) due to those conditions, but NEVER broke one.

I need to play many styles much more "guitar banging" than bluegrass, I can guarantee you that

1) Saddle. G-string and sometimes D-string

2) Light gauge (.012-.054)

3) Yes, but I've never had problems with strings which I change tunings, which usually are High and Low E, A and B

4) ONLY Elixirs and Ernie Ball's Aluminum Bronze. I've never had problems with any other guitar strings brand, not even with the Earthwoods.

Not all strings are for everyone.
I have a set of Aluminum Bronze on my Taylor 110e.
Initially, it sounded like change in a blender.
I let it sit a few days and it sounds great.
I’m a gentle finger picker.
I have generally kept them on the guitars they are on for 3-4 months.

Good thing there are so many different strings, and you know at least two that can stand up to your playing.
