Warm, round, fundamental but with good volume and punch.

My wife came in while I was practicing this morning. Gave her a quick demo. Grabbed the 41 and launched into some strumming and picking. Then grabbed the GP and played the exact same thing. What a difference! But, as she put it, “They both sound great!” High praise from a lady who rarely comments on my guitars...

Yeah my girls really like my Grand Pacifics as well. I hung mine on the walls and got a humidifier for Christmas. They honestly sound like they’ve opened up a bit more just from being out for a week. They resonate when I talk, and I have a Marshall speaker that makes them thump. Lots of fun.

Congratulations on a gorgeous new instrument! The "warm" sound can be a bit rare in Taylorland, so I'm glad you found it. I love the look of this instrument too.

Nice buy! I played all the GP varieties at Daves’s guitars and liked the 327 best, but then I have a baritone with the same wood combo so I’m partial to that sound. Congrats!

Congrats, for the past month, my soul has been at war over the choice between a Martin HD-28, and Taylor 717 BE.

Bought the 717 unseen about a month ago, (was fascinated, had to order to play one, partly based on recommendations from this site, but had 30-45 days to decide) and took it back almost daily to play against a HD-28 I liked/loved that I just happen to play as an afterthought as they unboxed my Taylor.

Played both against each other for hours, days, even weeks, bugging every person who walked by for their opinion and comments.

The Martin had lighter gauge strings, was easier to play and had that Martin bottom end, and of course I have not one bad thing to say about it (who knows, it might be my next guitar), but...

The 717 just continues to blow me away everyday. It has an incredible sweet sound everywhere I touch it, and the even intonation with the compound carve neck is the best I have ever played. Still has the elixirs on it, but going to put the Santa Cruz mid tension phosphor bronze strings on it next.

The Martin HD-28 no longer calls me, for now, but I know one day I will have to have one.......

The only exception was a 317 Grand Pacific, which had sapele. It had the warmest tone of all...and was almost a keeper.

Maybe a mahogany GP would be perfect, huh? So what did Taylor just announce? The 327e Grand Pacific..mahogany over Tasmanian Blackwood. Resistance was futile. Especially when I got it for 20% off MAP

It arrived yesterday. And sure enough - to my ears - the GP body paired with mahogany/Blackwood produces a sweet version of the warm, round, fundamental, old-time-radio tone Andy was trying for when he originally envisioned the GP body. Blackwood adds some EIR-ish power that gets volume from the hog top without interfering with its natural warmth. Gonna be a great addition to my tiny herd.

So now I’ve gone and done it: I broke my strict one-in-one-out rule to get this one. Both my other guitars are just too special to part with. Fortunately my better half agreed.

So here she is. That ugly PG is coming off later this week.
Wow if plays as good as it looks it's a keeper. Personally I like the pick guard (to each their own )

Rev, You sure do have 3 wonderful guitars! As you can tell I like the Taylor guitars. The 327 you got is gorgeous!. All these members getting the Grand Pacific Taylors is giving me GAS and I thought I was done! If I ever get to play a GP I may have to either trade or sell something. So, congrats, I can see that you are really enjoying it!

Congratulations Roy!
Your tiny herd is looking great.
I too think Taylor makes finely crafted guitars which are some great looking instruments. I’ve had the too bright sounding reaction every time I played one. I’ll need to try this model.
Enjoy!

Thanks! Been playing this little beauty daily for about a month now and still loving it. Just a couple months ago I never thought I’d want a mahogany guitar...and I was clueless about Tasmanian Blackwood. But what a combo! Now I understand why Taylor is so big on Blackwood that it paired it with the 2020 Sinker Redwood Presentation Series GA (PS14)...with a $9,999 MAP.

Waay outta my price range. But it sure is purdy...
