Very handsome shape. I love the colored segments in the rosette!

What? Just one little picture? How are we suppose to drool over just one little picture?

Default Bespoke build: Gaiero OM Engelmann/Black Walnut

Hello, Folks

We will definitely come back with an interview with Mark shortly.
In the meantime, we would like to share one of the bespoke builds pre-sold to a client last December. The client allowed us to do a build thread and let Mark do a showcase at the Vancouver Guitar Festival.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank him for his support of Mark and Fine Luthiers.

Spec
Body - OM
Top - Engelmann Spruce
B/S - Black Walnut
Rosette - Gaiero Micro Mosaic Rosette
Backstrip - Rocklite
Wedge - Rocklite
Purfling - Yellow dyed maple
Binding - Rocklite
Neck - Walnut
Heelcap - Rocklite
Headstock front veneer - Katalox bound with Rocklite and Red dyed maple
Headstock back veneer - Rocklite
Fretboard - Katalox bound with Rocklite
Bridge - Katalox
Frets - EVO gold frets
Tuners - Gotoh 510 mini tuners with black buttons
1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" saddle

Currently Mark only builds OM model but I believe he will build other body styles once he starts his own workshop. Our client was looking for an OM without Cutaway so it was a good start for us~

As Mark only offers Non-endangered species for the tonewood, our client chose to go with this Black Walnut set from Mark's stash.

The BW set with the Gaiero OM mold~

The Engelmann top with these Sitka braces will be the great combination with the B/S.

Default The Starting

After Mark became a father to a baby girl early this year, this build was started with the bending of the sides. These will become the outer part of the laminated sides.

We really fell in love with this rosette so our client had to get one on his guitar! This Micro Mosaic pattern is totally speaking out Mark's workmanship and his design philosophy.
Though he will not do the same things repeatedly so our next project for another customer will have a different version of this rosette.

The Sitka braces are glued to the Joined Engelmann spruce top. The bracing pattern of this top is the X with the lattice bracing on the lower bout.

The joining material of the back is Black&Red dyed maple.

This walnut block will be carved as the neck~

Talk to you soon with more photos!

Cheers,

Alan

The Vancouver Guitar Festival will be happening soon and this build was already finished...
Just Mark and I have been really busy so we couldn't manage to work on this build thread actively.
However, We will continue to bring more stuff here.

Once the kerfing is glued to the laminated sides, the rim will be ready for the next step!

In the meantime, the walnut neck is prepared to be carved and the Katalox fretboard is bound with the black Rocklite.
The front head-plate will be done with the Katalox veneer combined with this black Rocklite veneer.

We're in talks with our clients for 2 more builds aiming for 2019 delivery. At this point, one of the slots may be available. If you interested in a bespoke build, feel free to get in touch with us~

Cheers

Alan
