Every generation finds deficiencies in the generation coming up behind them. It has always been so.
It's also always been true that in any given generation there is a significant percentage of idiots and jerks. That's just human nature, sadly. I have two daughters who are 19 & 20. Through them I know a lot of people in their age group. Far from being disheartening, what I see is a group of very bright, kind, fun, creative and passionate young people. People who have a wide range of interests and skills, and who are knowledgeable and concerned about the world around them. Whenever we decry the "kids today" it behooves us two remember two things 1. In a very many ways this next generation has to deal with far more difficult circumstances than we did. 2. They are inheriting a host of global problems that WE are largely responsible for. Now, get back on my lawn! There's some beers need cracking open.
