Default Black Friday/Cyber Monday acquisitions

Did anyone pick up any exciting new toys this past weekend?

I picked up the LiquidSonics Seventh Heaven reverb and a cool little utility plugin from SoundRadix called Auto-Align which they describe as "an automatic microphone alignment and phase correction plug-in." I figure that can be helpful when using multiple mics to record acoustic guitar.

I thought I was done there but I talked myself into a bigger purchase before the weekend was over... the UA Apollo X8p. Vintage King gave me $925 for the Firewire unit in a buyback and 36 months of 0% financing for the balance. I could've stuck with the Firewire but in looking around on the intertubes, it's apparent the value is dropping substantially. I don't think I could have cleared much more than $925 for the Firewire on the used market today once I factor in shipping and fees.

I'm interested to know how you like the Seventh Heaven and what you are comparing it to.

I've played around with it a little bit. It's really lush and the tails are pleasant. I haven't done any direct comparisons yet but I'll get around to that at some point. My favorites recently have been the Altiverb and the Valhalla Vintage Verb, and for specific purposes the UAD Ocean Way and the Eventide Tverb, but the Seventh Heaven is going to get some use. It's quite nice.

Other reverbs I own:
Eventide 2016 Stereo Room
Waves Abbey Road Chambers
Waves Abbey Road Plates
AIR Non-Linear Reverb
AIR Reverb
AIR Spring Reverb
Altiverb 7
Eventide Black Spring
Eventide Blackhole
Avid D-Verb
Soundtoys Little Plate
Avid Space
Eventide Studio Reverb
Eventide Tverb
UAD DreamVerb
UAD EMT 140
UAD EMT 250
UAD Ocean Way Studios
UAD RealVerb-Pro
Eventide UltraReverb
Valhalla Plate
Valhalla Vintage Verb

I picked up the Gemni BT300 array for $299 even if it's half as good as other name brands it still 3x less also. Heck I might be able to sell it local for $399 if I don't like it

combo cab for my 5e3 deluxe clone. it is a mojotone cab with smooth blonde tolex and solid oxblood grill cloth. great deal at 15% off and only $5 shipping for that big box.

i thought about updating my firewire apogee ensemble to an apogee thunderbolt element but i've already spent enough money. we'll see about xmas time.

play music!

That's a great price. I think you're correct in that if you don't like it you might make a couple of bucks selling it.

The Apogee Symphony I/O Mk II 2x6 SE was on my radar but the software looks more complicated than I care to deal with so I stuck with UA.

I hear you on spending too much though. I wasn't planning on the Apollo upgrade.

Thanks for that.

I've tried most of those except for UAD plugins. One of my very favorites right now is Ebony from Acustica, which is a plate.

Let me know how you like the Seventh Heaven as you progress.

I just looked and there were no 2x6se units in the refurb pile. I was relieved.

The Seventh Heaven is said to be based on Bricasti M7 preset algorithms.
Do not know which presets the 7th Heaven has but my favorite (for my voice) on my M7 is the SunSet Chamber with about 60ms of pre delay.

Here's the list of Seventh Heaven presets and a link to the review from which it comes.

Seventh Heaven is an amazing reverb plugin. It's my go to for both voice and acoustic guitar. And it's a whole lot cheaper than the Bricasti M7 hardware!!!

Unhappy Black Friday

I was planning on making some Black Friday / Cyber Monday purchases but bought a crown for a recently broken tooth instead. The dentist was not running a sale!

Yes if I did not already own the M7 (from a number of years back and significantly less expensive ) I would definitely get the Liquid Sonics

Looks to me like the Dental Health Profession is in need of Black Friday/Cyber Monday sensitivity training!

You're probably better off with the real McCoy but for those of us who are "Johnnies Come Lately" to the home recording gig Seventh Heaven is probably as close to the real thing as we're going to get.
That said, I loaded 130 Bricasti M7 IRs into my Logic's Space Designer and they sound really good to my ears. Not better than the LiquidSonics SH but very good all the same.

No specific new recording gear for me but I got a sweet 32" monitor in 21:9 aspect ratio and 1440 resolution. The extra horizontal space makes editing in my DAW very nice.

I was tempted to get a general purpose LDC since I don't own one but could not make up my mind. Various plug ins also caught my eye but I think I should become proficient in what is included in Logic Pro first.
