Default Just played the PRS MT 15 amp (impressive)

Just yesterday I got to plug in to the PRS MT (Mark Tremonti signature) 15/7 watt amp head
And was pleasantly surprised how good the clean channel sounded .

I had feared that given the "signator" it would primarily focused on "Distorted' tones . To be sure the " Lead" channel while actually not bad with the "Gain" control backed off to 9:00 o'clock or below. Once you start to crank it, it definitely gets distorted (since I am not a fan of distorted per se I can't comment)

BUT the clean channel is really very nice and I would (and probably will ) buy this amp for that channel alone

kev: depending upon the preamp tubes used, you may be able to substitute a 12at7, 5751 or 12ay7 for v1 and the gain will be lower allowing you to use both channels with more headroom in each. most likely it is presently a 12ax7.

play music!

Thanks good to know . This amp actually has , 6 - JJ ECC83S tubes in the preamp section (a variation of the 12AX7, as I understand it ). And is probably one of the only below 30 (certainly 15) watt amps to have - 6L6 GC MS power tubes

yes, the ecc83 is the european version of the 12ax7.

i've been wanting to build an amp with just one 6L6 as it is a great tube.

play music!
