Don’t think it’s possible to cancel a Paypal payment a week later.

It's good that you finally contacted reverb. They will do what they can. They seriously don't want people getting cheated on their site!

I don’t think Reverb can really do anything other than contact the seller.

So I filed a disputed with PayPal earlier today. No responses from the seller. More bad signs...I googled the guys name and city/state and the exact name came up as someone who died six months ago and was 93. I think this guy stole his name. It wasn’t a common name or city.

Hopefully you'll get your item. Sometimes people get tired of repeated contact and shut down and at other times people sell something and go on the road for work or are traveling and can't return communication. You don't provide any information about where the seller is compared to you. Maybe it took 2 days to box up and ship and 5-6 days for travel time. However, my hard rule, regardless of how good something looks, is to never buy from any new sellers unless it's a small insignificant item. If you don't get your item - after PayPal's waiting period - they will refund your money if there is no proof of shipping/receipt from the seller. You simply have to be patient and work through the process.

Where are people traveling that they don't have access to communication for a week? You are giving an awful lot of benefit of the doubt here. The seller is in the north east and I am in GA. Same coast. The item is not coming. I guarantee it. There was no more contact the INSTANT my payment was received and he was quick to answer right up until that point. The lesson here is: DON'T BUY FROM ANYONE WITH ZERO FEEDBACK OR PREVIOUS SALES.

Lots of places. I highly recommend travel, whenever and wherever you get the opportunity.

Notwithstanding, I agree with your assessment, but I also agree with everyone who thinks you'll get your payment back.

I hope so. There's nothing worse than the feeling you get when you realize you've been ripped off by someone.

Well, I can think of a number of worse feelings.... It is only money, after all.

Nonetheless, I agree that it feels REALLY CRAPPY to get ripped off, and the additional info you have obtained is not good news. I'm still hoping that PayPal will come through....though I am less optimistic than I was yesterday. Sounds like you are dealing with a scam artist....which increases the likelihood that he has set things up to avoid having the money clawed back by PayPal.

Sorry you are going through this.

That's not what I meant.
I meant funds are on hold for you in your payment method, card/bank whatever, so you can't use that for now until you get it back.
But you'll get it back later, from seller/paypal, until then it's on hold for you.

Well, first, I never said the seller didn't have access to communication. Next, I always do the decent thing and give people the benefit of the doubt. That said, I believe you did the correct thing to report your concerns to PayPal and Reverb. Also, as stated, I believe if you don't get your PA system, you will get your money back. Good luck with your situation.
