Except for the Rainsong carbon fiber, I keep my acoustics in a humidity controlled display cabinet.

Mine all hang on the walls.

The cases are just for travel.

This is true for me as well. When I know that I am going to practice, then I take out several and put them on stands for the evening or weekend morning or whatever. I never have had a problem with not playing them just because they are in their cases. I have easy access to them so it is not an impediment to my playing for even 10 minutes or so.

I say do whatever works best for you.

Best,
Jayne

I keep my main guitar out where I can noodle on it frequently and absent-mindedly, in addition to regular practicing or playing. I get more new songs that way. Humidity isn’t much of an issue in Austin, though I do monitor it.

OT: I just have to say that I envy you guys who can keep your guitars out. I assume that your wives love to listen to hear you play since your "honey do" lists are all caught up too, right?

My wife is also my musical partner, so yes she is happy to hear me play many times a day. On the other hand, I can get self-conscious about repeating the same lick a zillion times to get it in my fingers. But she never says anything.

My wife almost never hears me play. She mostly hears me practicing.
If she can deal with that, she can deal with anything.

There is no correlation between a "honey do" list and where I keep my guitars.
I have a more-or-less fixed number of guitars, but the "honey do" list is automatically self-refreshing...The more items I complete, the more items that show up on the list.

I cant imagine having to drag a case out and open it everytime i wanted to play.

Im the kind of guitarist that might pick it up for a few songs, put it down have a drink or a smoke and then go back to it anyway. All mine are on my rack

All my guitars are on wall hangers and floor stands. I keep my guitar room at the proper humidity level also.

I keep 6 guitars out in a rack (3 Bown, a Sobell, a Froggy and a Wingert) and currently 2 more are on the sofa (McAlister and Franklin). 5 banjos and a mandolin are also out. That’s fairly normal. If another guitar comes out I might put one away.
This is GB where we very rarely have wide humidity fluctuations. My hygrometer is registering 38% so my humidifier is on just to be sure.

I like to simply pick up a guitar when I feel like it. Can’t be bothered opening cases.

There is no one size fits all direction on this. It really depends on where you live and average humidity in the house. I have all my guitars on the wall in my humidity controlled office and house. I also live in South Carolina which is a bit more forgiving than say Wyoming.

Probably, each to their own. I can play anywhere up to 4 hours a day. Guitars are in standard, DADGAD, CGDGCD, open G and D etc so it’s quick and easy to swap between them.
