At a previous residence, we had a woman pound on our door at 11:30P, screaming, “All right you doctor mofos (not the actual expression she used), get out here!” As it was a weeknight, she woke us from a sound sleep. My wife called the cops, and I went down the hall, half expecting the door to get kicked open. Cops were there in no time, and took her away. Turns out it was the new girlfriend of a guy who lived in a basement apartment across the street. A nursing student at that time, reportedly in a manic phase of bipolar illness AND high on meth.

Sorry, no photos to share. But certainly the strangest thing that has shown up at my door.

Wildlife here in the UK isn't that wild but it is cute when they turn up on the patio in numbers.

KevWind wins the contest, but I'd say the most surprising thing for me was the large black bear who showed up to raid my bird feeders several weeks ago....

Phhttt...

Back in the 70's, I answered a knock at the front door...

My ex Mother In Law, drunk, with a handgun...

I have some pictures of a cow moose rubbing her butt on the front rail of the deck at our Anchorage house. The rail was wrapped with Christmas lights for our first holiday season there. She made kindling out of the railing, and I had to rebuild it completely come spring. We always had moose in the yard, bald eagles on the street light (watch out Siamese kitty) and occasionally a black bear passing through the neighborhood during summers when they were not hibernating.

Then there were the two-legged varmints.....

While I can't match Kev, I've had ducks and geese in my inground pool as well as:
  • An angry raccoon on the roof of my shed;
  • Turkeys and whitetail deer walking down my street;
  • Got buzzed over the course of several days by a PO'd bird of unknown species whenever I went out to my backyard (a couple blasts with the garden hose cured that);
  • Heard unverified reports of local coyote sightings (they have turned up in Central Park and Queens);
Keep in mind we're talking about a suburban community within the New York city limits...

- and my front door...?

Ultra-high maintenance ex-GF about a week after I started dating my then wife to-be - came around about 8PM, did a half-hour "Sheldon" (from Big Bang Theory) on my apartment door, sent her packing when she tried to push her foot in the doorway, heard the next day from a neighbor on the night shift that she was still sitting in the lobby talking to herself at 2AM...

All things considered, I'll take the angry raccoon...

A very large Great Dane. My gate is right next to the door, and I walked out and found myself eyeball-to-eyeball with this guy.
He was obviously lost....

Had one of those “call this number” services with a code on the tag, but alas it was expired. However, a bit of questioning around the neighborhood let me quickly find the owner... The dog frequently jumped the fence.

For "strange" the two head Rattler is hands down the winner. Well that and the politician in stretch pants ( which would be the most potential for psychological scarring )

It would fall under NSFW. I'll leave it at I went to well regarded "Big 10" university famous for partying and a 10s of thousands of people Halloween party.

Ha! Yes that is with an 80 to 200 Zoom I am standing just outside the main garage door at the side ... and the wall behind Kitty Kitty, is the back of the garage, say 25 ft. I did however study her reactions pretty closely as I eased around the front of the garage to get the shot. And I did talk to her calmly and tell her I just wanted a picture (while obviously the words have no meaning to her) I learned from 25 years of starting young horses under saddle, that making sure your body language clearly indicates no malice of intent, is helped by clearly vocalizing the intention . Even if it only helps you focus and not give off unintended body signals

here are some more

Sweet. i do believe that's a Grizzly Bear,
