NGD - 2016 Gibson Memphis ES Les Paul
My mint new to me Ebony semi-hollow Les Paul arrived over the weekend and my Fender ‘57 Laquered Tweed Custom Champ arrived today. The guitar is off to the luthier tomorrow for a proper set up but it sure is pretty and the champ is a little tone beast. This is my first electric and I’ve got to say I’m well pleased - but it sure is different than playing acoustic. I think Ive got quite a learning curve ahead.

Sorry, but the app tells me that image sharing has been disabled so it wouldn’t let me post a picture. Bummer.

congrats on the les paul.
that's too bad the setup was so bad you had to take it in right away. i usually give the guitar a breakin period so that when i do a setup i'll know what is necessary. play music!

It wasn’t horrible, but I could pretty much tell what it needed. I always take my guitars to my luthier for an initial set up - he is really good and I like to have each guitar at its best from the get go. I’m also having him look at upgrading the tuners (without drilling new holes) since that’s something that drives me nuts. I’m clearly too Type A. [emoji6]

Congrats! Lots of love for the Gibson Memphis. Watch out ... you'll soon be wanting some other Gibsons like a Les Paul Standard and SG.

Welcome to the electric tube world; I think you’ve entered into it with a bang of a good amp. Let us know how it goes for you and if the honeymoon phase ever ends.

Well I love the blues, the sound of great tube amps (my home stereo is all tube), and Clapton recorded Layla with the original version of this amp - so it was kind of a no brainer. Now I just need to learn how to play the bloody thing properly. Her name is Little Queenie by the way (a la Chuck Berry).

Same guitar exactly as used by Kelly Clarkson’s guitarist here. I know, it’s not Zeppelin, but what can I say? [emoji6] https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=6Xng0nF8czE
