I usually only offer abalone or spalted maple for the inner ring of my rosette, but my client wanted something special in a burl, so I got this in special for this instrument!

I wanted to keep the overall look of this understated (plain? I hope not) but wanted a couple of extra special touches, so I asked my client if he'd like a couple of Art Deco-ish motifs inlayed ... the end graft and a much smaller version at the end of the partial back strip ... and that's what we're going with. the tan colors will be the rosette burl ... the redish pieces will be snakewood. Here's the renderings I did to give him an idea of how they'd look against the Ziricote.

As far as backstraps and peghead veneers go ... my customer decided on no backstrap and went with the bookmatched "A" option for his peghead veneer ... with a bit of sapwood in evidence, to match the back.
