I don't know. You remember how the coat of many colors ended up, right?

I don't know. I like the stained glass reference. In fact, as I type this it seemed appropriate somehow when Chris Tomlin's song "My Cathedral" came up on my iTunes mix.

Wonderful! And thus we have a name. Eire, I shall pay you in apple dumplings and dance at your wedding. Minus the dancing.

Given that Jason K. has dibs on 'stained glass,' that Kendall's rosette contains twice as many woods as the previous two (three?) similar rosettes you've built, and that I'm aware of the ultimate purposefulness of this guitar, then Coat of Many Colors makes some sense.
Besides, even if it was a tough go initially, it didn't work out that bad for Joseph in the end, now did it?!? Always grateful for a small piece of the credit, and certainly comfortable with absorbing all of the blame had you two not liked the name! |

And btw, I'll gleefully devour those apple dumplings...and Julie can dance with Tim at the wedding while you and I are wallflowers, Mary.

Seriously, though, this guitar looks like it's turning out great! I've read a lot about Tim's work. I'm looking forward to seeing it up close during one of our trips back home to south Georgia. Bill Last edited by Broadus; 09-16-2013 at 08:21 AM. Reason: Helping a sentence out :) |

I'm in shock at how fast this guitar is coming together. Here is another installment of pictures:
The white purfling will be gone soon, it was just a spacer: Adding the cocobolo: Mary had this to say about this next picture: "speaking of the box... I was holding it and talking. The box is already "speaking back." Yes Sir. That means I can feel it vibrate as I talk. A man's voice will make it vibrate more. As we tap on it to hear the tone it rings. When Tim was using the orbital sander on it I couldn't believe how loud it is. Adrianne (working on her #2 guitar) and I had to put on ear plugs so your guitar box didn't hurt our ears. Tim and I both smiled. Needing ear plugs during the sanding process is a good thing. A real good thing!!!"

The process does go surprisingly quickly, doesn't it? I think it's all those photos Mary sends (not to mention the occasional "coaster" or binding strip fragment through USPS to whet your appetite). But those images of Tim with a weapon of mass destruction in his hands (and no, I don't mean golf clubs! ) while holding your guitar can raise the hair on the back of your neck. As delicate as are these instruments, it's amazing what they go through in the process of construction. And yet a photo of Tim buffing a guitar body, for instance, is not nearly as paralyzing as watching it happen live and in person, though! Come to think of it, Mary, isn't it about the time to make the leap to digital video?!? |

I'm still trying to get those vids of Ken Bonfield demo'ing the Wheat to upload. Not sure why it keeps failing. I'll try to take some time and edit it down to a smaller size - maybe that's the issue.
I was reminded of my own build to hear Mary say this guitar of yours has the same incredible resonance when Tim was sanding it...! There's something special about Honduran mahogany in Tim's hands.. Phil
