It was looking so good until
Actually it is going to look great once the glue sets and the binding is sanded down. This Ebony with red accent will tie into the top purfling and be really purdy

Bruce: It appears you are routing through the abalone..........is that right? If it is I wonder if you have trouble with chipping or do you use something other then a regular bit. Nice work and design by the way.

Solid Carbide and taking my time! The bit doesn't look too good though it was new when I started. There is no tear-out visible to my eye so far, though I have not yet cleaned it completely up, of course. I did use the same bit to rout out the backstrip cavity in the Pernambuco.

As for the BRW kerfs, I am sure you have taken a saw to some BRW. Possibly to cut out a back or profile some sides...Wait a second...I just looked and you were a busy beaver last night as well. I found a whole bucket full of kerfs in my shop!! Here is a picture lest anyone doubt it: Thanks Bruce!! Also, lovely work as usual on the guitar! |

Here the whole backstrip:
And here's the whole rosette: And here's what I'm doing now, which is laying out the top braces. The first step is to establish the leading edge of the bridge: |
