Default NGD...Vintage Archtop Content

I won't bore you with the whole back story, but I've been searching for a good vintage archtop to replace one I no longer have. This guitar is exactly what I was looking for, in substance and history.

It's going to need a neck reset, and that's coming as soon as I find the right luthier...

Here's my new 1939 Gretsch Model 30, as original as they come...

Wow, congratulations! Nice looking axe. If you have time, definitely "bore" us with your story...I for one am interested to hear it.

I posted on the Gretsch forums and found that the SN dates it to '35 or '36. Very cool...a nice pre-war archtop.

It was on Craigslist. I traded a Fender Strat for it. The Strat was getting much attention as I prefer my Tele's, and the trade was well worth it to me to get one of my dream guitars that will get some real play time on it.

I've got an appointment with a luthier on Thursday morning to have him do some neck work to get it as comfortable as possible. I really want to use this for fingerstyle.

Wow! Very cool! One could have a lot of fun chunking out chords with that. Congrats!
