Default My Weekend is Shattered

Or at least my weekend mug.

We've got a funny little custom here at the Womack Hacienda: we've chosen weekend mugs that come out only to celebrate the weekend. Ironically, they are each related to my lovely wife's and my professions. I bought my wife, who is a pharmacy technician, a personalized mug with a simulated prescription for coffee on the side. After I had some mastering done at Abbey Road Studios my son bought me one of their mugs. It became my weekend mug.

Wednesday, my wife opened the mug cabinet and my weekend mug jumped out and annihilated itself on the counter. Does this mean that the weekend won't come? I'm waiting to see. My wife insisted that we order another one, post haste, so we went on the Abbey Road online store and did so. We'll be going red this time.

Does anyone else have a weekend mug?

Bob

Not a particular mug, but I was pretty shattered last weekend if that counts for anything. Think I'll take it easy this weekend.

ETA: Sorry about the mug, but I think it will look better in red.

I usually break out (sorry, that may not be the appropriate term to use at this time ) one of my Emerald mugs on the weekend.

For those who don’t know, Emerald ships a hand-made Moville Pottery mug with every new instrument.

I don't have a weekend mug, but I do have a mug-quirk: I have 6 coffee mugs that I actually use (more that I don't) for drinking coffee. I have a habit of using them all every week. If the dishwasher gets emptied and all the mugs are clean before I've completed the rotation, I will not use the newly washed mugs until I've gone through the others. Odd, yes? And I don't use them in any particular order - I just make sure I use all six. I don't know how or when I started doing this; I just realized one day that I was doing it.

You're lucky you got your Emerald mug. When I got my guitar, the mug manufacturer was experiencing problems so I was left out. (sigh)

I must say, that is sitting pretty close to the edge of that table.

Tom's right, Bob. Move that new mug outta harm's way!
I recently broke my semi-ancient work mug -- an artifact from Michael Jordan The Restaurant (hence slightly oversized) -- so I know the heartbreak that can come from the loss of an old ceramic friend.

Sip in safety and good health!

I too am a “weekend mugger” and I am relieved to learn I am not the only one. For many years, I have reserved two specific large ceramic coffee mugs for weekend use only. Started out as a silly thing and then turned into a habit.

Glad to see that a new red mug has arrived to provide some solace to you.
