Was such a pleasure borrowing this for a bit while in NL, thanks again Max. Some photos and a small studio video for you that Karlijn and I made. I found it remarkable how well the 24.75" scale handled the note definition and fullness tuned down to CGDGCD tuning here, despite also having fairly low action! Cheers, buddy.

Very fine playing, great setting, sharp photography, and a fabulous instrument.
Other than playing it ourselves, what more can we ask for? |

Thank you Dustin, that was great. Watching some of your stretches makes my little fingers hurt! Beautiful guitar all around.

Max,
There are very few guitars I consider "works of art" but that is one of them for sure. Having the nice wide spacing and florentine cut are just icing on the cake. Dustin sent me the pics through FB when he received it - and my jaw hit the floor! I wish I had less will power, I'd have you build me one JUST like it!

Thanks to everyone for your kind words!
It is a real joy to hear Dustin on this guitar and I am very grateful for his kind offer to check it out and make this beautiful video. Thanks again for your incredible work, Dustin! I was surprised myself how well the guitar handles the low tuning considering the relatively short scale. Quote:
If you ever want to call one of my guitars your own feel free to reach out, I even have a few sister sets of Tasmanian Blackwood to this one Thank you Alan, I hope we can work that out!

There is a lot going on in the Spohn Guitars workshop recently.
I spent the last couple of months building two guitars that have been a lot of fun! This first one is a bespoke order through my friends at Dream Guitars. It is my 00 model with a 12 fret neck joint in Swiss moon Spruce over quilted Birdseye Maple. The client requested an inlay of a cardinal on the heel cap and the use of fine red lines to tie it all together. I am very pleased how it turned out and I can't wait to hear the guitar soon. The cardinal inlay is my first free inlay and required some new skills. It is not finished at this stage as I did some engraving after the final sanding of the body. I never thought I would ever do an inlay like this but it was a lot of fun and I am glad I did it! The second guitar is for a friend of mine in Switzerland. He is a very talented guitarist so I don't have to tell you how excited I am to deliver this guitar to him! It is my new OM shape and features a stunning bearclaw Swiss Spruce top over some equally stunning Brazilian Rosewood back (this one is a four piece back).

While the two guitars above are off at my finisher I have started the next two...
...an OM-C in Swiss Moon Spruce and Fiddleback Walnut from Germany that will head to The North American Guitar in a few months. And an MD-C in Swiss Moon Spruce and Madagascar Rosewood which is a bespoke order through The North American Guitar.
