Congratulations!!! I love mine and will never let it go. And mine is a “lowly” Corona!! I’m sure you’re going to love it. Let us know how you feel after you’ve had a chance to really live with it.

I played a D55 for the first time last year in Austin, TX at South Austin Music. It was a brand new one, California made. The quality of sound and tone stunned me. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but it was one of the nicest sounding acoustic guitars I had ever played. Congratulations on a real beauty!!

it sounds just like the Guild sound that I knew and loved and learned on, but a little jingly, but I think that's the D'Addario XT light strings. Could it also be my brain/ears being overly nostalgic? Sure.

I bought a D28P and D18 back in 2012 because I didn't like the Guilds at that time, so I'm a Martin and Guild owner/fan. They both sound fantastic.

Thanks everyone for the feedback and congrats! I'm pretty **** happy with it And I feel that I've "righted the wrong of my youth" by replacing the one I sold as a kid.

Heck yeah! I considered for a while selling or trading my D35 to help pay for a Martin D28. I would be happy to have a Martin but I’m so glad I held onto the Guild now; it’s a 1977 (or thereabouts) model from New Hartford and after a bit of attention from a local guitar tech plays as well as ever!

Enjoy yours, it’s a beauty!

That doesn't sound right, I think that would be a Westerly...

You can't beat a good Guild. Congrats on a classic guitar!

I meant Westerly of course, dunno why I wrote New Hartford… it’s defo from the late 70s affording to the serial number and it says Westerly on the label. Must have had a brain freeze this morning…

Thanks for the heads up!
