Wonderful Glenn! I didn't know the song, it's beautiful in music and words.
I just listened to Taylor's version for the first time on You tube. There he played almost the same guitar you do.
Thanks for sharing!

Hi Andre'!

Thank you for listening and taking time to comment! Your support is much appreciated!

James Taylor does play Olson SJ guitars. I think he has four of them, cedar top with Brazilian rosewood back and sides. My Olson SJ is cedar/EIR. His are a little fancier than mine, generally with inlay at the bindings and on the fretboard, but the sound is pretty similar to that from my Olson SJ.

A good example of James Taylor playing "Up On The Roof," probably the one you watched is linked below:

I hope all is well for you, Andre', and that 2022 will be a great year for you!

Thank you Mike!

It's always great to hear from you; I'm really pleased that you thought this came across well! It is a great tune. Carole King has written some terrific stuff over the years.

I hope 2022 is going to be a great year for you and your family, Mike! Be well!

Great job, Glenn! You really nailed those vocal melody jumps. By the way, if you ever get a chance to see “Beautiful“ don’t miss it. I’ve seen a lot of musicals in that style and this one is the best in my opinion 👍

Hi Bob!

Thank you for your kind and supportive comments on my Carole King cover. Much appreciated!

I will look for an opportunity to see the musical, “Beautiful“ based on Carole King's music. Thank you for the suggestion! It sounds like a great production and it's encouraging to know how much you appreciate it!

I hope you and your family are doing well, Bob! Be well and enjoy 2022!

- Glenn

Hi Glenn,
Another winner. Recording sounds perfectly balanced. Vocals and playing are as always spot on. You made it your own. Too much to say about CK. She is in a very small class with superb classmates by themselves. What a writer.

Our rooftop has another use these days as my teenage kids use it as a place to socialize with their friends al fresco while also being "home" although the really cold weather that just rolled in ended that for now. Crazy times but we all adapt.

Hi Started!

Even though we have never met, I thought about you a few times as I put this recording together because I remembered that you lived in New York City. I thought you very probably had some experience of rooftop as Carole King describes it. That's very cool that you do. I'm sure it helps you to identify even more with a song like this!

Thank you for your kind comments about the song recording. I did put in a fair amount of effort over several days to make the best of it. I'm sure you know how these things are; I kept coming back to the audio part of the recording and finding more adjustments and tweaks over time.

I am sorry about the colder weather coming in on you and your family and the whole city, for that matter. We just came out of a fairly long cold and snowy spell out here in the Pacific Northwest. I loved the snow for a few days, because it's not common for us near the coast, but then started wishing for everything to get back to the normal 40°F temperatures and constant, drizzling rain. We actually had some sunshine over the last two days, and I was able to do some cleanup around the house after all that snow.

I hope this is a great year for you and your family! Stay well!

- Glenn

I liked this one. The production sounded very natural, which to me is the ultimate goal! And the song fits your laid back vocal very well. Just another good one all around, I liked that you sat with the song awhile before you recorded. I thinks that helps if you really want to own the song!
