Default Favorite car you've ever owned?

I had a 71 Chevelle in high school in the eighties. Objectively it was a terrible car but the rumbling V8 and cool factor made up for the rust and patina. I can't honestly say it's the "one that got away", it was rusty and pretty tired when I got hold of it and my abuse more or less finished it off. I added air shocks, mag wheels, and a loud exhaust and thought it was hot stuff. It got me through senior year of high school and freshman college before I passed it on for something more reliable. I'd take it back!

What is your favorite of the cars you've owned?

About a year ago my wife and I decided we needed a "fun" car. We both have wanted a Porsche 911 since we were in college. I found an all black, manual 6 speed 2003 Carrera 4S with 25K miles on it. It may not have the memories (yet) of some of my earlier cars, but it is absolutely my favorite to drive.

I drive a 2014 BMW 328d wagon. Fists me like a glove, nice diesel oomph and gets over 40 mpg. Love it!

My current car, a 2008 Honda Fit. It’s the most practical small car I’ve ever seen, let alone owned. And if you’re horsepower expectations aren’t too high, it’s reasonably fun to drive too. Has a sport mode with paddle shifters. Pretty good, not great gas mileage, but don’t drive a lot these days, so I make up for the merely OK mileage by filling up once a month, sometimes less.

Every car I had before this, I’d wish for certain features or capabilities it didn’t have. When I bought this one late in 2007, I realized this was what I’d been looking for all along. As little as I drive it, there’s an outside chance it could be my last car…

Pretty much every car I've owned has been a favorite. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bought them. From my first (1961 Mini Cooper) to my latest (2020 Mercedes AMG E53) has been a car I love to drive.

There must be something about guitar players and cars. Jeff Beck is a car builder, as was Danny Gatton. Clapton totaled a Ferrari and didn't even have a license!

2005 R53 Mini. I've got 213,000 miles on it now, when I look around
at the other cars on the road, I never see one I'd rather be in...

In 1970 I had a 1966 Pontiac GTO. Way too much car for a 19 year old, but I didn't let stop me.

I had a '73 Camaro that I wish I still had.
The car that was most fun though was a '73 Capri (the European version).

The car that I loved and regretted selling was an 71 MG BGT hatchback. I poured lots of money into just keeping it running but I loved it dearly. When I had to have a car that was reliable, I finally came to my senses and got a Subaru. I still fondly remember how much I loved driving the MG, even though I had to park it so I could push it downhill and pop the clutch to get it started on cold, damp Northwest Washington days.

Hard to say. My Toyota 4Runner has to be up there, the only competition is my Chevy Silverado. Gonna say the 4Runner because it was the first car where I bought what I really wanted and it lasted 15 years. What a great 15 year span it was, too. Some great memories in that car, surfing, rock climbing, beach outings in Humboldt County...just a great rig.

Gotta be my current ride:

2021 Subaru Outback Touring XT

The turbocharged 2.4 boxer engine puts out 260 horsepower giving this thing more get up and go than any other car we have had.

Funny, you guys in the US didn't get the original Subaru series WRX we got here in Australia .. but now the tables have tuned completely and you guys get many different model Subaru cars we can't get .. like your Outback XT and the 2.5 version of the Crosstrek (known as XV here).
