Thanks Patrick, I'll give them a try.

You've had this guitar for over 2 years and you don't particularly like the way it feels and the sound is good, but not what your ear wants to hear.

Seriously? It's not going to suddenly sound and feel the way you love, but there are guitars out there that do. Hunt one down.

I have both a 000-15M and an Angel2 in all-blackwood. If you think the neck nut is too wide on the Martin, you’ll definitely be disappointed with the Cole Clark as it’s wider.

Hi,
It was the CC Angel2 I compared it with. The angel was nearly bought.
Its not so much the neck that is the prob with the Martin. My brother in law suggests I keep the Martin as an heirloom to give to the kids.

Thumbs up

Hi,
An update in that I will persevere with the Martin.
I spoke to my Brother in Law, who suggested to keep it as a family heirloom for the kids.

I took the guitar to my favorite music store, to buy some strings and to discuss consignment process to sell it.
The salesman Raff, is a fan of these models, so he hooked the guitar to an amp, using a shop worn Fishman Humbucker acoustic pickup. Man, the sound was so sweet and gave the guitar another dimension.

Thank you all for your input, helped me prevent a near fatal mistake that I'd regret .

Aaah, Haworths.
Phil Haworth himself set up my Martin Grand J12-40E Special and did an incredible job.

Woolongong and the name Raff - it had to be Haworths.

I took my Martin and Guild 12-strings to them after a terrible set up job done in Canberra.
The Martin needed a new nut.
5 hours drive each way from Eden.
The guitar tech at the store passed the job on to Phil.
I asked Phil to set up the Martin to match the Guild.
Well not only did he set it up better than the Guild he also asked me if he could give the Guild truss rods a tweak - I said OK.
I got back 2 beautifully set up 12-string guitars.
I rang to thank him - he told me he actually enjoyed working on them.
Nice guy, superb job.

Good man Phil. I used to visit his workshop at his home when he started the business. Great service.

Will they do the work if I ship them my guitar? Up in Sandgate/Boondall Qld, I’m too far to take it in there myself. Or maybe one of you knows of a good guitar setup/repair person in the Brisbane area? Thanks.

fred, You like your Maton CS - a lot. Don't worry about any other guitar. You own a Martin 00015m. It is not costing you anything to own it. Keep it. Maybe someday your skills and/or tastes will have developed to a point that the Martin works really well for you.

I owned the same 3 Martins for about a decade: HD28V(Adi), D18GE, and OM28V. I hardly ever played the OM; it paled in comparison to the Ds. At some point, I got serious about picking with my fingers instead of a flatpick. Now the OM is my favorite guitar, even though I still like the Ds every bit as much as I did before.

I really liked the 00015 I owned, but it got lost in the GAS.
Perhaps a set of Martin Retro strings would be in order.

Do a google search for Hayworth Guitars Shellharbour (I hope that's OK to post?). They may be able to recommend someone your way.
