K&K is an option I have thought about.
11 are too thin for 000-15M, you should get 12.
My 000-15M was made in 2010 and only a couple years ago it started to sound just awesome, much more complex tone than before.
Yes, it is not a spruce-top guitar and cannot be.

Mine came alive with DR Rares. 12-54. It didn't like my usual Earthwoods. I have more fun with that guitar than any other, including my D-28. But maybe it's just not your cup of tea. I'd give it a chance though with some string experimentation.

That guitar is the best in my book for what it does, which may not be your cup of tea. I find quieter fingerstyle play is where the all hog ooo shines. Givecit another chance. ☺

These guitars are more fingerpickers than strummers.

Generalisation and my opinion only though.

I am a strummer and a flat picker mostly, sometimes doing fingerstyle. I have a 00-15 and bought it because it works well for all 3 styles. Many small body guitars are more specific.

I had one for a couple of years and it may be my favorite acoustic ever. And I had a '68 D-28 for about 25 years. The D28 had a lot more volume and had an incredible sound, but I really like the darker, more complex sound of the 000-15M and that little guitar was just way more fun to play. I also found it sounded better with lighter strings - bigger bass tones seemed to get mixed up in that smaller chamber and it could sound kind of muffled and boomy all at once. I thought it sounded best with 11s and better with 10s than 12s or 13s. Personal preference obviously.

I sold it for a carbon fiber guitar because I really love the lack of maintenance and attention to humidity and I'm really happy with the Emerald (X20), but if all other things were equal in terms of care and feeding, I'd have probably kept the 000-15M the rest of my life. That said, what works for me might be totally wrong for someone else - life's too short to play instruments you don't connect with.

If you haven't bonded with it yet, you never will. A guitar is not a "great" guitar unless it's great for the owner.

Sell it or trade it for something that inspires you. All Mahogany guitars are not everyone's cup 'o tea......

Def experiment with strings. Pairing the guitar with the right strings can make a difference. Good luck!

I’m a big fan of Thomastik Infeld Plectrums but I think they may be too mellow for an all hog guitar like yours. I’d try Martin Retros and DR Rares. Also you might consider Santa Cruz Lo Tension Parabolics. I’d think they would work great with an all hog guitar.

You can't play a review.

Have only tried an all hog guitar once and generally ive always felt like I needed the spruce top, especially for flatpicking. From listening to some all hog guitars on youtube though Im starting to think I should give them another go, going to try one this week.

Finding the right strings for your 000-15 could make ALL the difference.

Before I give up on a guitar I'll try many many different strings.

Forget the reviews. People give rave reviews for BMW and Mercedes, but you'll never see me owning one.

Life is too short to play a guitar you hate. I tell you what, if I wanted a small mahogany box (or at least a mahogany topped) guitar with a comfortable neck, you've GOT to give one of the new Taylor 322 12-frets a look. What a great little guitar.
