Carbon Fiber Dreadnought - any experience?
I am thinking of bidding on this guitar:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Composite-A...kAAOSwxNRbRBDV Anyone have experience with this brand/model of carbon fiber guitar? I'd appreciate any insight you could share. |

That looks like a great price. It will most likely sell for a lot more.
CA is now owned by Peavey.

You should repost this in the Carbon Fiber sub forum. You'll get plenty of responses. Beware though, some consider that sub forum a cult.

I've played that one I believe. It was quite good. I personally prefer the CA tone to rainsong. My old youth pastor had one as his main guitar.

Not sure of the exact month/year but I think this guitar is made around the time that Peavy took over productio, I could be wrong. I would check. Some pre peavy CAs had neck angle issues. Not all, but enough to become a known issue. The peavys I have played sounded and played great.

Slick would love to have this guy for company. If you don't go for it, I will!
After playing a Rainsong ax this week, I can tell you that CA looks better and sounds much more like a wooden acoustic. Keep us posting on your decision. BTW, the seller has good reviews and judging by the instruments hanging on his wall he is into acoustic strings. |

I had a Legacy and it was a good guitar, very woodlike. Yes neck angle is always a concern cause no truss rod. But mine was perfect. If you look at the side photo the action looks good. I would ask him the height above the fret on the 12th fret for both E strings. Trouble with the bay it can look cheap till the last 5 seconds. But you never know?

I own a CA gxi but considered the legacy too. It has a mellowed tone compared to rainsong which are more bell like. As was said before check the neck.

I had a Bluegrass Performer from CA, pre Peavey. Great guitar, very full sound. A friend who had an HD-28 had nothing but raves to say about it as well . The only issue I had was the locking tuners on it. Had them taken out and standard tuning posts put in at Elderly. I ended up selling it to buy an OX because wanted a smaller body with wider nut. Sold it hear on the forum.
