pain between shoulder blades
Somewhat recently, when I practice for about 20 minutes or more, I get an ache between my shoulder blades. I used to be able to practice for hours without any discomfort. (Yes, I'm getting older - in my 60s.)
I haven't changed anything. I've tried using a foot stool and also a support - no difference. I do find sitting on a chair with a back helps, but doesn't eliminate it completely. I don't lean back much, so don't rely on it, but a little support does seem to help. I've played for many years, and haven't changed my technique. Thoughts? |

Are you less physically active than when you were younger? That can lead to decreased stamina and tiring more easily, leading to aches and pains.

As one senior to another I have two suggestions.
1. Deep tissue massage. I get one every month. It will release a lot of the tension in key muscle groups. It must be deep tissue. If done correctly it will hurt. In this case the discomfort will be worth it. 2. Chiropractor. This may be controversial but to me this is an essential part of staying active. We sit contorted, we sleep contorted. An adjustment once a month keeps all the facets of your neck and spine actively adjusting. My 2c Cincy

Trapezius? Flexing the shoulders/upper arms towards the center of the back, and holding for a set time, saw it on a YouTube video, cured me.

You think that's bad? Try getting a mosquito bite directly between your shoulder blades.
That's a gift from Satan, right there... |
