Now that sounds like a good use for guitar holes. Maybe a set of coasters?

Thanks Steve and Nemoman,

Here it the maple Josie small jumbo coming together. I'm using spalted Tamarind for the logo chip and centering the rosette;

I do have a lot of guitar holes but they have become where I record vital statistics on each guitar such as the top wood density, deflection numbers, weight, final thickness, etc. I picked this up from Ervin Somogyi who has quite a few more than I do.

Default Setting up sides

Here I have one side in the oven. The reason the slide is not pulled all the way down is there is a cutaway starting there.
The other side is being glued up with maple laminate. When I do highly figured woods I tend to go with multiple layers because it's easier to bend a thinner figured side and I like them to have more strength than a solid figured wood side might provide:

I'll close the body up on this guitar next week and will be working on the curly hard maple neck

Thanks for viewing!

Default Hatcher Josie Cedar/Bastogne demo videos

I've had the guitar for a couple of weeks now and it is magnificent! I'm not even going to try to describe the sound. It sounds awesome!

I'm glad you like it! It was a pleasure building for you Dano.
The guitar looks like it fits you well. And thanks for putting up the great sound clips!

Really nice playing Dano. Enjoyed your clips immensely.

That is a masterpiece Hatcher you have there. Gorgeous! Glad you decided to become one of the family of Hatcher owners. It is only we who know just how special they really are!

I'm glad I'm not the only one to comment on Dano's clips. As you know it takes a lot to put one together and I think he did a great job!

Sorry, I listened to them both and was very impressed with the sound, playing, and beauty of the guitar, I just was remiss in posting. He did do an NGD post on the general forum as well and received several very nice comments including one saying something along the lines of it being the nicest guitar this person had seen since joining the forum!

Great job Dano.

Oh, thanks for saying Dano posted on the general forum. I missed that and I was thinking, "geeze, somebody give this guy a little credit!".

Default Maple Small Jumbo

This week I will close up the body of the crazy figured maple Josie small jumbo spec. I will also dig in putting the neck together. I am using Sugar Maple also known as Hard Maple for the neck. I am going with a curly figured neck and trust the additional strength of Hard Maple over the other varieties to keep the neck straight.
Here is the board I will be digging into. I think I can get as many as 5 necks barring any surprises when I start cutting:

Thanks for the kind words. Honestly, I don't care too much about getting any credit. I just wanted to make sure that you as a luthier get the credit for making really high quality custom guitars. I was only hoping my playing and recoding was good enough to do the guitar justice.

Thanks Dano,

Your playing was very enjoyable and showed the guitar off very well. I hope you enjoy the guitar for many years!

Thanks

Mark,
The rosette looks awesome. Very understated but elegant in a manly sort of way.

Thanks Tim!

With everything else I'll have going on with this guitar I thought a more understated rosette was in order.
