Hi J.R., I'm glad you agree
I think this suggestion has been brought up a couple of times (at least in the 1 year that I've been here) but maybe it never caught your attention?

I personally would like to see a separation between gear (which is probably the most popular topic here) and discussions that relate directly to playing the instrument. I think lessons, tips and tabs posted in this new section will generate a lot of interest and benefit many members, myself included

Hope it comes to be!

I think "Lesson Loft" is a great name for a start.

I would agree except Harmony Central already uses that. Surely there are some creative minds in this forum that could come up with something acceptable?

I don't think it's suitable, unless the subforum is purely for "lessons"(?) which would make it quite restrictive. I think something that includes discussions on playing technique, etc. would be nice

What about "The Learning Center", "The Player's Corner", or the "The Practice Room"?

I vote for something along the lines of "Player's Corner"

+1 on having a place for info and ideas on techniques etc...

As for the Forum name, how about:

I made this post before digging around here.

http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...33&postcount=5

I'll be honest that I have not yet contributed to this site and have repeatedly contributed to another site because that site has a great area for progressing one's skills in addition to the same great community that's here as well as other forums that really help learn.

I do like the community here but (this may be my fault) have not seen the very obvious content to get farther as a player. At times I tire of much talk of exotic instruments and maybe it's my fault for generally going to the new posts link.

If competition is the issue (lack of better description) I do have to admit that there already other wonderful communities like tdpri.com as the or a second to none spot for how to do and make things better and UMGF where there's more of a slant toward how the guitars are made, materials etc.... with all of them sharing no shortage of disk space on GAS and brand loyalty.

One way or another I'm glad that I noticed this area for learning, and I do appreciate the nice community here.
