Default Pear Jam Black arrangement on a Taylor

A few months ago my brother-in-law passed away. His addictions got the best of him. My sister asked if I’d play his favorite song, which is Black, at the funeral. He was 33 years old and left behind 3 little girls, ages 5, 3, and five months.

This is what I came up with. Finally got around to recording it. It’s a Taylor 714ce spring ltd. and man does it sound good.

Thanks bajawatt. It really is a great song. When that album came out I was 14 years old. It really was the biggest thing in the world of music along with Nirvana Nevermind. That song was always a standout track. Vedder at his finest.

Awesome and powerful. Had to put my headphones on half way through to do it justice. Thanks for sharing and prayers to the family.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Apparently I should listen on some headphones. Haha. I only heard it on my studio monitors. Glad it sounds good. I spent a decent amount of time dialing in the EQ so that all the strings were crystal clear, especially the low end.

I am also sorry for you and your family’s loss.

I thought that was well done - you balanced the fingerstyle of the vocals with the power chord ballad guitar in quite a unique way.

Great interpretation.
