Default Iris DF Smeck wanted

Still looking for an Iris DF Smeck & if a slothead too...then I'm in heaven! Please only contact me if you intend to see through a deal without any change of heart etc. I'm 100% about buying a Smeck and would appreciate it if any seller is 100% committed too. Bump it up.

PS. Just found out that my Iris ND200 is on it's way to me. Somehow I suspect it will suit my needs (maybe I won't need a Smeck after all) but I'll continue to bump this one up until it's arrival. Darned GAS!

Northern Lights is blowing out their Iris stock. Here's a brand new DF Smeck non slothead for $2093.

This one is a bit of an odd duck, perhaps.

Originally Smecks had WIDE necks, as they were designed for lap slide. 1 3/4” would be fairly slim, IMO.

Still, the price is right if it fits your mitts…

Cheers

Paul

You won't find a better deal on a new one especially. Crazy low price.

Smile Call them

Maybe call and double check the neck width?

Best on your quest

As someone who owns an Iris with a 1 11/16" neck I will say they're pretty full feeling so if you're thinking Martin 1 11/16" like they use on the 15 style guitars these days it's nothing like that.

'll second that. I also have an Iris with the standard 1-11/16' nut width and the neck feels great to me too.

Default Thanks everyone....

Thanks Uncle Jesse for the initial input which was greatly appreciated. And thanks Paul, as ever the one going the extra mile , Josh & Jay too for reassuring me about the neck profile.

I do have my reservations about 1 11/16" nuts and would always prefer a 1 3/4" nut. Whatever nut width, it seems the full C neck profile on Iris guitars remains almost constant. I have made enquiries about this guitar & have asked for a soundclip....which is impressive. And Yes under $ 2100 is a steal for a new Iris. And I'm giving it serious consideration but have to say the nut width, the fact I'm awaiting delivery of an Iris ND200 ....still...to give me more of an insight into the Iris sound & playability....it's causing me to slightly deliberate & stall on this one. I may still take the plunge but it doesn't bother me to wait a little longer for the ideal nut width. All good things come to those who wait even if the GAS is killing me...in the meantime I have to "endure" my Kopp Roy Smeck which is killing me....not!! Sensational guitar!

Default Bump....still looking!

Still looking for an Iris DF Smeck. I was tempted by the new Smeck with the 1 11/16" nut BUT borrowed a guitar over the weekend with a similar nut width. It was playable BUT I'd rather wait for a Smeck to materialise with a 1 3/4" nut. So bump it up...

Smile Kopp!

If you have a Kopp Smeck, I guess you can wait a bit for the nut you want.

Hahaha

Have FUN

Paul

You know, you might consider looking at the Gibson Roy Smeck Stage Deluxe custom shop reissues from 2014 forward I mentioned on an earlier post. I have one of these and the nut is 1 3/4 and they are really lovely guitars. I think after 2014 they torrified the tops, and they are based on very detailed blue prints of an original 1934 Smeck by a well known luthier (which Gibson took without permission or payment). These will be more expensive probably than an Iris, but they have a full gloss finish, and (I think) hide glue on the dovetail joint.

Default Still looking for the elusive Iris DF Smeck....

Thanks for your advice which was noted earlier in the replies. Actually I have been looking for the suggested guitar once in awhile, out of intrigue. But I have a Kevin Kopp Roy Smeck model which caters for my Gibson cravings & is keeping me surprisingly occupied. Each day it grows on me more & more and it has pushed my strong rosewood leanings in the opposite direction.
Having listened to many Iris soundclips & videos, I reckon the Iris tone is something different from the Gibson tone. It sounds somewhere between vintage/modern, the hog guitars seem to have more sustain/reverb & possibly have a few rosewood traits in the mix. Hence my quest for the Iris tone & I await an Iris ND200 model which seems to have been held up in the USPS mail. If the ND200 model confirms what my ears hear then ultimately I'd like to custom order an Iris Smeck one day in my preferred tonewoods & string spacing etc.

Bump this one up to the top, whilst keeping one eye on a Gibson Roy Smeck Stage edition for the future (maybe) and the USPS tracking for my ND200....
