Default Demo of me busking with Seymour Duncan Mag mic

Hi folks
Just a few days ago a experimented again with my Seymour Duncan Mag Mic.
I tried it on several guitars. They sounded great but the best sound was when I installed it on my James Neligan ACFI. (I took the previous pick up out)
The mag mic has such a lovely mellow tone. I actually prefer it to the LR Baggs Anthem.
Plus it's about £80 cheaper.

Tell me what you think?

Sounds good - the whole thing: the guitar, the playing, and the vocals.

Thanks Captain Jim. I'm using the AER compact 60/3. I really love that amp. And I'm sure excited about the Mag Mic. It's very well designed and the condenser mic is great quality. Just adds a bit of air especially noticeable when finger picking.

haha, yes I liked your singing and playing. I can't judge the mic you tried... but great that you are happy...

I like magnetic soundhole pickups with mics. My current one is a Schertler AG-6/s-Mic, but I’ve also been impressed with the Seymour Duncan MagMic, the Fishman Rare Earth Blend and the Skysonic models. Vanden also makes one that I haven’t heard because it is super expensive, but I’m sure is wonderful as well. If I wasn’t using the Shertler, I would go for one of the others. It is my favorite type of acoustic guitar pickup.

Sounds fantastic... how much mic is blended in?

I've set it on 70% mic and 30% magnetic. In the past when I have used magnetics they can sometimes sound too electric but this combination works great.
You don't get the harshness that can come with piezo's pick ups.
This pick up is definitely hotter in signal then the Fishman rare earth blend.
I also love the the Fishman Rare Earth blend. But sadly mine broke a fews ago.
The only pick up I haven't tried is the Fishman Matrix blend which is meant to be excellent as well.

Lovely! I would certainly have stopped and listened to the whole song. Sounds fine to me though it is hard to judge the quality of your pickup with all the back ground noise. I love my AER 60-2; in all my guitars I have K&K installed which is nice if not excellent too. But I must admit I never did much shoot outs.

Hi Karl.
I use to have the K & K installed in my Faith Jumbo guitar. For me I found it was hard to tame the bass. I don't know maybe the guy who installed it didn't quite install it properly. It will be interesting to hear how the K & K Trinity sounds. As I believe that has a mic blend function too. I may be wrong.

That was more than just busking, you know how to play heart strings.

Taming the base is something I need to do with certain guitars. I soon discovered you absolutely need a preamp to do the job. I have the K&K Pure XLR which works flawlessly with my pure mini's and the AER 60. I can't think of anything better. A lot of guys on this forum speak highly of the Red-Eye preamp in combination with the K&K pure mini.
