Default Benefits to a Slotted headstock?

Are there any tangible benefits to a slotted headstock (in comparison to the typical headstock and tuner layout) on a steel string acoustic beyond aesthetics?

Well, they look kinda cool. Aside from that, increased string tension across the nut. Reduced weight maybe...

The first one that comes to mind is less fun changing strings, if that is a benefit?

Yes, no fun to change strings, usually resulting in loss of blood. Not really higher string tension, rather greater pressure on the nut from the steeper break angle, which seems to improve transmission of vibrations — perhaps improving tone?

Greater string break angle at the nut apparently but I can't remember ever playing a guitar and saying, "Mmm, you know what this guitar needs? More break angle at the nut!"

Definitely way easier to give blood.
Plus, they look cool.

Not that I've experienced in over 50 years of playing. They can look old-timey, traditional, vintage if that's your thing - but you excluded that in your question.

If you pre-cut the strings it's very easy to change strings. I think it's actually easier because the tuning buttons are all facing the same direction.. I happen to think they look way cooler

As previously mentioned, two main characteristics are increased string tension across the nut, to reduce buzzing at the nut, and they can look good.

The tuner buttons are in a much more comfortable position to turn.

Speaking as the owner of two slotheads: No. None whatsoever.

They're more expensive to manufacture, allowing the maker to charge a higher price?

Perhaps I should reverse the question. Is a slotted headstock more susceptible to damage (even a hard drop in a padded case) and/or does it take any more TLC than the standard configuration?

They are lighter weight for those long marathon gigs and have less wind resistance for those extremely fast dance spins you do.
