Default The "New" Gibson 1942 Banner LG-2 . . Opinions?

I recently sold my '45 Banner LG-2, which had tone for days. In the end, the baseball-bat-of-a-neck ultimately didn't agree with me as I got older, and it sat in its case for years. Been looking for its "instant gratification" replacement, and came across the fact that Gibson themselves makes a 1942 Banner LG-2. Can anyone who has seen or played this guitar provide any feedback? If it is true to historic specs, then the neck profile would also be too large for my taste, but I'm guessing that the neck has a more modern/slimmer profile.

I have also owned a '36 L-00, and didn't care much for the V-shape profile of the neck. Now if I could only find a 30's L-1 . . . .

I haven't played one, but would suggest selling guitars is more important than authentic specs. I looked at the specs for the made in US 65 Epiphone Texan. No adjustable bridge, no 1 5/8 neck. So I'd guess a modern 1 3/4 neck. Might be what you are looking for. The modern high end Gibsons I've played have been good guitars.

I would tend to agree with your statement . . . in fact, selfishly, I would hope that is the case for my particular needs. I guess this is a pretty new line of guitars, these Custom Banners, and not many have had them in their hands as of yet.

I have played a few, and they ranged from good to excellent. The one that was excellent was better than the J45 from the same series that I played, and I generally prefer that larger size guitar.

Curious where you found a few to play? If you have played a vintage LG-2 or L-00 prior to, does the new reissue do them justice? Or was it a completely different animal? Trying to get a guitar that is in the ballpark. Someone on another forum suggested that I look into Waterloos.
