Default songs in the public domain....

Anybody got a list of songs in the public domain? Any web sites?

Been searching and I find plenty of lists for sale but not much in the way of lyrics and chords.

Are there any well known songs that are public domain songs?

I've had this site bookmarked forever, no tabs, but it has a few mp3's for download. Mostly old blues, but some other stuff in there too.

Thanks, I didn't have that one. I wonder why it is so hard to find websites (or books for that matter) with the lyrics, tab and maybe a midi or MP3 along with it so you can firgure out the song.

There are a million sites for rock, country, bluegrass, jazz whatever you want but just not much on the thousands of songs in the public domain.

And if the songs are in the public domain (like FREE?) then why so many books that sell you words and music for free songs.

Anyways if anyone knows anymore I thank you in advance.

Because they can. In the pre-Internet past, it was easier to buy a book or two than it was to research it yourself.

And, if your impatience overpowers your desire to save a buck or twenty, it still is.
