Hi, All.
Hello there to everyone. I’m an old, old newby. I’ve played lots of different instruments in my time, but, though I play Tenor Guitars, I’ve never played a six string or classical guitar.
I’m hoping I can pick it up (Ha!), but I can only give it a try and see. |

Good luck! Doesn't hurt to try.

It's never too late.
If you want to strum chords and sing, you can be proficient at that in a year or two. For classical or fingerpicking related styles, it will take some work. Good learning and have fun. |

you'll take most of what you already know with you.
so enjoy the journey.

Wow! I sent to Amazon for the Hal Leonard Classical Guitar book on Sunday, and I got it and some other stuff yesterday! That’s fast!
I played most of the easy stuff last night. I’m really enjoying myself so far, and that’s what I wanted . . . |

I love the tenor guitar. I don't play mine as often as I should but every time I pick that thing up to play it puts a smile on my face.

Yeah, I have a couple too. I play Plectrum stuff on my Blueridge And whatever on my Kala. I have an ongoing struggle with chords, but sometimes I have a good time with ‘em.

Dick,
If you work from tabs you do not need to know any chords. I transitioned from tenor guitar and banjo easily, and then on to fingerstyle. It was easy as well. And I started about 70 years too late but I am plucking and grinning. - Stevo |

Yeah, Stevo, I am using tabs for Classical Guitar, though I use notation for most of the other stuff I play. I’m an old guy too, so it’s slow going for me and lots of repetition. Chords are rough because I can’t remember anything!

I got off to a slow start with CG because, being self taught, I learned to fret and pick any way I felt like doin’. With the new style, I often became confused due to the difference. Now I’m trying hard to follow the book which, of course, is different from my old way. Yesterday and today I finally started showing some progress and having a better time. I’m definitely moving ahead now, slowly for sure, but in the right direction.
