Default Durham Sex Drive for compression

Hey guys. I was thinking of putting a small acoustic board together for live streams and some possible shows coming up. I wanted to add a compressor for fingerpicking. I have a Durham Sex Drive which is basically a clean boost but it has 3 compression channels, none, soft and hard. I never used it with my acoustic yet but before I buy a compressor would using the SD for a compressor be just as good as buying a solo comp pedal?

No.

A compressor pedal will have controls to tweak the compression behavior.

The Sex Drive has off, soft and hard. Compression isn't it's main purpose, only an add-on.

Even so, it's worth it to try. It might be all the compression you need. Even if you find it too simple or limiting, it can provide a no-cost baseline (you already own it).
