It's great that you got the preamp ribbon cable thing sorted. That's so much better than having to pack up the preamp and wait for another!!! I am one of the early adopters of Sebatron preamps around here, and my opinion hasn't changed, I love them. In a rack full of great preamps, the Sebatron VMP4000 is the most used preamp in my rack. For good reason, they just sound great.

I just listened to your Shooting Star recording, and it's great to see you are putting the Sebatron, and your new interface, to good use right out of the gate.

Congrats on getting your studio set up for years to come.

I bookmarked that Sebatron Axis 200 that was mentioned here. Looks like the seller has lowered their price to $1075. I don't NEED another preamp. But is it ever about need? I could plug it into the line ins on my RME Babyface Pro

Folks here seem to really like it, would it work well for instrumental fingerstyle guitar?

Or if one of you want to jump on it go right ahead. Save me the decision making.

Anton,

I think the Sebatron Axis 200 makes my recorded tone fuller and rounder, less strident. There is also less noise so the tone is cleaner. I’m very pleased with the purchase.

Yes, the Axis is a great all-around mic pre and the most versatile I have in my rack. It's excellent for guitar and vocals.
