Default Rainsong Jumbo near Central Virginia?

I've been pining about a RS Jumbo for some time. I'm pretty sure it will be my next guitar purchase. However; I would really like to play one before I buy.(which is normally a priority with me when purchasing a wood guitar)
I have had that 12 fret RS Jumbo that LA Guitars has on my watch list for more than six months. Very intrigued by what a cannon that must be. Being a cannon isn't a big deal except you don't have to play as hard to hear the little things that sometimes don't make it to the ears of passive listeners.
If someone owns a RS jumbo and is + / - 100 miles from Charlottesville VA and would consider giving a RS jumbo pining, 8x GrandPa a play and listen; I would be very grateful.

I have a Hawaiian Rainsong Jumbo with the original neck.
If you're passing through Wheeling WV you're welcome to check it out!

I am not close to you at all (Duluth, MN) so I can't help you there but I just bought a JM1000 about a month ago. I ordered it from a great guitar shop in Madison, WI (Madison Music.) I've bought loads of guitars from them and we have a really good relationship.

I had the option to send it back if I didn't like it.

I was smitten after the very first strum and there was no way they were getting this guitar back.

It's really, really nice! I've owned several Goodalls, Collings, Taylors, Gibsons, etc and I really think I could be happy with the JM1000 as my only guitar.

I have a limited edition J45 which I thought was the best sounding acoustic I had ever played. I might like the JM1000 better! The sound is huge with so much clarity. Just perfect for my playing style.

Order one from a place that will let you return it. I don't think you'll be sorry!

Matt

7 hours away in Ohio! I can't see why you would not like the JM1000. You already have a Rainsing so it's not totally new ground? The only issue would be the size, if you can find a Gibson J200 around you to see if the size works, you should be good. I actually think it will be more comfortable sitting down than your DR1000. I have played the JM1000 with a unidirectional top and it was a bit warmer. But the Black Ice is so very cool looking in person.

Thanks for the suggestions and offers. What exactly is a Hawaiian Rainsong Jumbo. Is it different than a standard RS Jumbo. Wheeling WVA isn't to awful far.
Good idea Steve, I'll be heading to Richmond to Sam Ash & Guitar Center which happen to be side by side. I see how those jumbos feel.
I'm several months from being ready to purchase one. I haven't been able to convince our local RS dealer to get one in. I'll still be working on him. He knows I'm a serious guitar guy once my ducks are in a row.

Me again. My RS Jumbo was made in Hawaii before they moved to Washington...back then there were no neck options, so mine is the standard neck without the truss rod.

I've never owned a RS Jumbo, but I have played them on several occasions, usually in stores. They are a big guitar, about the same size as Gibson J-200. Quite a armful. They are a big bold guitar, with a big bold sound. The narrow waist helps moderate any tendency toward boominess, and many think that the Jumbo is more balanced overall than their Dreadnoughts.

There has also been recent discussion here about putting heavier strings on the them and tuning down, making a de facto baritone. That is a cool idea, IMO.

My WS-1000 was made in Hawaii in 2001. They moved to WA sometime around 2006, but I don't recall just when.
