Good chord exercises - inversions etc? Truefire?
Hi, I'm looking for videos or books containing a lot of chord exercises
I know how to do a lot of chords and i know music theory from piano, so I'm not looking for long explanations just exercises that make me better at playing chords, inverting chords, knowing how to construct them fast different places on the fraetbord, chorprograssions forming and inverting 7th chords, sus chords, etc. I learn best form exercises, not listening to long explanations. I'm interested in Chord revolution or inversion excursion. from Truefire. Can anyone recommend it? and I would really appreciate if any of you have suggestions, it could be charts, books, videos that helped you become better at playing, menmorizing and constructing chords. |

I find the Ted Greene books an amazing resource. Both Chord Chemistry and Modern Chord Progressions are great. Not for the faint of heart, but books that you can refer to throughout your musical journey.

I like patterns and I often like barre chord shapes for the patterns (even if not doing full barres).
For example: A major chord triad sequence on inner strings 2,3 and 4. Add other strings say for the melody line or more complex chords. F to F/A to F/C to F ------------------ -1--6--10--13----- -2--5--10--14----- -3--4--10--15----- ------------------ ------------------ If thinking barre chord shapes the shape pattern is F to minor7th (or C) to A and back to F Joe Negri had a whole book dedicated to inversions. I have it but it is no longer available. He does have another book out (see below) which is also good and practical. https://www.amazon.com/Common-Sense-.../dp/0786660813

I am a TrueFire member. I am not too familiar with those particular courses but after a quick look-see, they look pretty good for exploring chords voicings, inversions, etc. both come with bonus material like large reference guides and jam tracks. I don’t know I’d pay what they are asking ($39 each) so you might want to wait for one of their frequent sales. |
