Excellent conversation and playing by Ed in this interview from last year. A down-to-earth, well-spoken guy who happened to have created one of the most immediately recognizable licks ever. Tone is definitely in the fingers here.

I got a kick out of what a guitarist wrote once, in a thread about perfect pitch: "I don't have perfect pitch, but I can think of the intro to 'Sweet Home Alabama' and get a D."

Thanks guys/girls.

Is it true that the 57 Deluxe is insanely loud even at low settings??

Which amp do you think sounds better for blues lead playing?

the regular, not hot rod, deluxe, including deluxe reverb is about 22 watts. the princeton is about 12-15 watts. both will get real loud in a home environment. it depends upon what is loud to you. you should play both and see which works for you.

i have a 66 deluxe reverb with 22 watts that i don't turn up past 4 and that is loud in my room. i have a 59 princeton, different animal than a princeton reverb, with about 5 watts and i turn it up to 7 or 8 in that room. i usually have a pedal in front also.

both would be excellent for blues.

play music!

Have you given thought to the Blues Junior? I have seen guys gig this amp at blues jams and it cranks. I gigged a Fender Twin Reverb and it was brutal. I wish I had had one of these 20 years ago.
