Faith in music restored
Went out for a slice of pizza tonite. Its in a strip mall in my town. When I walked out to go home, about three stores down I saw a kid busking under the awning. I guess he was about 17, playing an inexpensive acoustic, and nailing every Beatles song he sang. I dropped a few bills in his case and told him he did some good covers. What impressed me was that even though his vocals were not the best ( neither are mine ), he knew all the words to the songs that were played by a band that called it quits about thirty years before he was even on the planet!!! I must have taken him a long time to learn them. I guess not every kid spends all day on his iphone. Well done young man, there is hope yet!!!

Very cool.
A friend is a music teacher and one of his guitar students a middle school girl who loves the Beatles. She really impressed me at one of the school's recitals. It really was heartening to hear and see. |

Thanks for sharing...I'm not quite so pessimistic about our musical future for the moment...

People have been underestimating the younger generations for a long time. It's as old as rock 'n' roll itself.

That's nothing. When I was in school, the band was doing numbers hundreds of years old! You and your loud rock and roll....
Now get off my lawn!
