My bad. Not the same thing. See, I am confused but no more. Thanks much. I may go with the older soundhole pickup with the gooseneck mic. I don't like UST's.

Well, because the Matrix is their flagship UST and if you look at the photos on that link, the last photo inside the guitar shows the wire running out from a hole drilled in the bridge. The controls are indeed soundhole mounted and the preamp at the end pin but the piezo element goes under the saddle.

LOL. I've had some good experiences with the K&K passive and active systems. I've had better experiences with K&K in a dual source active configuration. And, I've had one hopelessly bad experience with K&K in a boomy dreadnought that could not be tamed.

All pickups suck.

Look at the open-back picture on Fishman's website. You can clearly see the wire coming through the bridge plate. That's the UST.

But they have their place in the global scheme of things :-)

I was somewhat excited to see how this would sound. The issue is that although reviews have been overwhelming positive, the demos sound like a UST to me with a slight amount of mic in the signal. A few reviewers have also commented on the overall weight being an issue. I will probably pass but it does at least seem like a better option than just a single UST.
