Martin Authentic Strings on the X20
The X20 was way overdue for some new strings, I've tried Martin SP's on it before and was not impressed, so I wasn't expecting much when I put some of the new Authentic Lifespan 2.0's on there. These are different. I like them a lot so far. It's only been 3 days, so we'll see how long they last. I prefer them over the Elixirs so far. I'd like to see other opinions if anyone has tried them.

John, do the Martins have a mellower sound than Elixirs?

They have mellowed nicely with a lot of resonance, (depth) to them. They sound tighter to me than the Elixirs if that makes sense, the bass strings sound flabby at times on the Elixers, now when you go from worn out Elixirs to new anything, it will usually be an improvement, so we'll see how it goes in the long run. So far, I'm impressed and can say they are worth checking out. Plus they are less $$ than the Elixirs.

Thanks John. May give that a try. I don’t particularly like the D’addarios that came with my X20. A bit bright for my taste.

These strings are getting more impressive as I play them. A full tone with a lot of nice overtones. May be the best I have tried on the X20. Not what I expected from a Martin string at all. I'm interested to hear what others think if anyone else tries them.
