I've been designing the site and putting together all of the content since last year and finally it's up and I've made my first rounds of corrections.
I took the time and effort to do it myself so I would thoroughly know it and be able to update it regularly without the struggles I had on the previous site.

Mark, that's an exceptionally well-done website. Comprehensive, highly informative, easy to navigate, visually attractive - and of course great photography. I visit a lot of luthier sites and cannot think of a better done one.

I was prepared to offer constructive criticisms - but you left me no room for them. Congratulations!

Thank you, I had a lot to learn to make this site. I am happy to have gone through (and finished) the process of getting this new site up.

Nice sounding guitar. I'll say it sounds a lot like Cuban Mahogany. It's a little harder than average Honduran so it has more overtones than usual. Fundamentals are still strong though.

I haven’t checked in here in a while, this is a real beauty! I haven’t loved mahogany, then heard a really nice dread with Cuban, and it totally changed my mind. This must sound terrific!

Thanks Mike! I have another Fiddleback Tree starting in November. It’s from my the Perfect Pairings offering I did awhile ago. This Fiddleback Josie small jumbo will have a remarkable Swiss Alpine “moon” Spruce top.

It makes sense that you would prefer the Cuban Mahogany as it has more of the rosewood/ebony charm because it tends to be harder and stiffer than the other Mahogany family members

Every wood family has a tough guy:

Mahogany has Cuban

Walnut has the appropriately named Bastogne

Rosewood has crazy Cocobolo

Maple has Rock Maple but his family calls him “Sugar”!

Thanks ukejon it was a long time in the making. I’m still tweaking it regularly. I’m also doing some backfill on the Blog page and then trying to weave the blogs back into the rest of the pages through links. I’d like to link up more of the Flickr build photo albums to show more details and steps.
I think it would be interesting to run comparative SoundCloud audio clips of same model-different woods. So it’s a work in progress.

The finish is on and this Penelope is showing her stuff. Here is a picture of the two tone Amboyna Rosette on the Western Red Cedar top. The rosette and body is bordered with cross grained bacon figured African Padauk.



The curly Koa back and sides have come up nicely:



The sculpted pillow top headstock and custom buttons are also the same two toned Amboyna burl:



And the closer you look the more there is to see:



I'll have this one strung up next week. Can't wait!

..neither can I ... want to hear it.
Am hooked by the beauty of it... that ambonia burl and that headstock, the all so fitting and matching tunerknobs... this to me is the best looking piece of acoustic art I’ve seen.... ok.. I am a wood guy... but that knocks it out of the park. A bespoke build I assume? ... I hope it is... else I need to check what‘s left or print some....

And the rest of the guitar is STUNNING!
