I also own a sound, lighting and production company in addition to performing. I use rechargeable NiMH



and recently found rechargeable Lithium Ion 9VDC batteries that can be charged on the go from USB Power Banks:






I just picked up this 16A USB Power Bank from a local Fry's with a coupon code for only $14 bucks:




Here's one of my typical band setups, where everything is run on rechargeable battery power including the u-bass and mixer:

NiMH batteries are not the same as NiCad batteries. They are newer technology, usually higher in capacity, and they don't need to be fully discharged before recharging. In other words, they can be "topped off" without adverse affects.

Al Acuff mentioned Thomas Distributing as a battery source and I highly concur. Over the years I've found them to have quality batteries and chargers at a fair price, as well as excellent customer service.
