I cut the dovetail leaving a liberal amount of material for the fitting, and it took me over an hour to accomplish the task. It does appear to have come out with the hoped for geometry and s a solid fit. The truth will be known in a few weeks when I put it together and do the set-up.
Here is the actual appearance of the whole, which I completed today and moved into the finish process. 12 days over-all, so far, but they are mild days, averaging less than 6 hours per. And here is evidence of three coats of sealer and one of still wet oil varnish. |

Walnut never fails to impress me under finish. Beautiful work Bruce!

The tenor is almost done with varnish, and today I began a new guitar.
This will be a Schoenberg Single 0 cutaway in Myrtle with a Rivolta Italian Spruce top I've held since 2004. |

Amusingly, for me anyway, I find myself making a number of "on the fly" changes to the bracing pattern I have drawn here.

Nice wood & interesting approach. Can you tell us more about how & why you’re changing on the fly? What informs your decisions?

Here is a slightly more detailed photo sequence of my top to side development. I think some of you may not have grasped how unusual my build sequence is. Also, I mentioned before that I had taken some license with my sketched bracing pattern. There are several deviations. The main thrust is to get the spaces between the braces to fall into certain range of footprint.
More soon. Thanks for looking, and please ask questions if I have provoked any. |

Am I the only one who noticed the serial numbers do not match?

It’s a special technique that makes the body of the guitar think it’s older and more seasoned - it’s one of the reasons his guitars sound so fantastic right from the start! 🙃

My serial numbers are incorrect surprisingly often. In this case I could glue in a second label on top of the current one. Or I could be hard core about the added weight and claim that it would be detrimental to the performance of the instrument. The label is soaked in shellac and glued in with HHG, so removing it would be quite challenging, as it is intended to be.

I am heartened that you know how to read the number!
